For this month’s open evening in Nijmegen, the AGN proposes to have a cosy and constructive conversation over ‘work’. Important matter as it is the one thing we are going to spend the better part of our life doing (if we don’t do something about it soon). Key questions might be (but are not limited to) what place has work in our lives ? What function has it in our material conditions of existence ? Are we talking of work as a separated activity? Or are we talking of occupations ? What is the position of the Left regarding wage labor now and has it changed over the years ? What does Rihanna truly mean when she sings “Just get ready for work, work, work, work, work, work”?
Many angles can be taken, from a radical critique of wage labor to a right to be lazy, through theories of emancipation through work. Where will the meanders of our arguments lead us to ? What will our free and audacious minds discover along this theoretical adventure of a night ?
Only one way to find out…
We will try to facilitate the conversation with a short introduction, but this is meant to be a lively, inclusive discussion!
It’s going to take place at the legendary restaurant De Klinker right after the migrant solidarity café Mulawan, call them to reserve a table if you want to indulge in some real tasty food before we get down to …work.
Also, no, Rihanna will not be discussed.
For tonight the evening will be in English
Greetings Comrades,
Will a recording of Anarchist open evening: Work be recorded and will a podcast be posted on your website?
Thanks
